Warren basically sidestepped the question, saying he didn't understand IBM's moat as well as Coca-Cola's (NYSE: KO ) . According to Buffett, He likes IBM's financial policies and thinks it will do well, but he feels more conviction in Coca-Cola, Wrigley, Heinz (NYSE: HNZ ) , and Burlington Northern Santa Fe.

Analysts predict earnings at International Business Machines Corp. (IBM), which gets more than half its sales from abroad, will climb 10 percent this year, the slowest since 2004. Shares have slumped 7.7 percent in 2013. Caterpillar Inc., where more than 60 percent of sales is from overseas, cut its 2013 revenue forecast last week. The biggest maker of construction and mining equipment is down 5.4 percent in 2013.

IBM's (NYSE: IBM ) 1.5% move higher is having a large impact on the Dow's move because it's the highest price stock in a price-weighted index. CEO Virginia Rometty sent out a company-wide memo saying that the company needs to move faster and respond more quickly to customers. IBM issued a disappointing earnings report last week, and Rometty is trying to get the company's financial fortunes back on track. It'll take a few quarters to find out if she's successful.
